Conference Agenda
National Assembly Package A
The 2012 National Conference of the Canadian Nursing Students’ Association will be held in the heart of downtown Saskatoon, Saskatchewan at beautiful TCU Place. Over 500 nursing students will gather from across Canada to participate in professional development sessions and network with peers. They will be given the opportunity to receive invaluable lessons from featured speakers and have an opportunity to learn of the expectations of future health care employers.
The theme of this year’s conference is “Harmonizing our Voices, Overcoming Challenges”. This year’s theme will engage participants to recognize various issues that nursing students and registered nurses face and the diverse ways in which we can work together to overcome challenges and improve patient outcomes.
Featured speakers are presenting on matters of politics of nursing, addressing stigmas in the healthcare system, lateral violence, patient-centered care, determinants of health and discovering and using your nursing student voice.
Through an open platform of discussion and collaboration, challenges within practice will be explored. Strategies to prepare nurses of the future with the skills and confidence needed to overcome impending challenges will be offered. With education and team-work we can unite our voices to address obstacles most of us will experience during some point in our future career.
In addition this year we will be offering an optional morning fitness activity on Thursday, Friday and Saturday for a combined price of $30.00. More information will come as to what each class will entail!!

Speaker Highlights
This year we have a list of exciting speakers that will encourage attendees to get involved in nursing in more ways they ever imagined. The speakers will present on a number of topics including the politics of nursing, addressing stigmas in the health care system, lateral violence, patient-centered care, determinants of health, and discovering and using your nursing student voice. We are proud to have Sarah Painter, former CNSA President speaking about using her nursing student voice at the board table, about learning to find a significant voice in "big league" nursing politics, her transition into the role of an RN, and her voice now as a Nurse. Also CNA will be presenting on a number of platforms including the expert commission. This is just the beginning! There will be more to come!
